T his is a class based on theatre exercises and shop experience. Group exercises or participation will be the foundation of this class. The principle methods of learning will consist of acting exercises, theatre games, rehearsal, and shop work in costume, prop and scenery creation.
T his class will be for students ages seven to twelve years of age. Class will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. The class size will be 20 students. This will be an eight week class culminating in a Saturday and Sunday afternoon performance of a children's theatre production appropriate for the class size, age, and ability. The children will be responsible for performance, as well as, pulling props, costumes and set pieces from SCP stock. Lighting would simply be whatever is hanging. Simplicity and what the children can create will be the focus. The children will be expected to perform and do the technical work of theatre.
T he class would start Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 9:00AM and run through Saturday, October 28 with final performances on Saturday and Sunday November 4 and 5.
T he cost of this class would be $75.00 per student. A family discount of $10.00 per additional child. Scholarship funds available based on financial need.
F inal productions would be for the family, friends and community at large. General seating, photocopied program and no cost publicity. The charge would be $5.00 per person, child or adult.
T he classes will take place around the Stage Coach Player main stage productions. The focus is for the children to learn about theatre. They will focus on learning new skills such as acting and design but use their imagination to use what is available to make their production work.
